From Sawmill Camp to Rural Town
Spray Foam Insulation in Redwater serves a small rural city in southeastern Bowie County, twelve miles from Texarkana. Redwater grew up in the mid-1870s around a sawmill run by Daniels and Spence and was first called Ingersoll. After an 1886 revival, residents renamed it for a new well that produced red water, and the post office name changed officially in 1894.
Wartime growth
The Red River Army Depot and Lone Star Army Ammunition Plant were built just north of town during World War II, and the population rose from about 250 in the early 1940s to 457 by 1950. Homes from that period and after make up much of the town.
Housing
The 2020 census counted 853 residents and 389 housing units, 14.7 percent vacant. The census lists Redwater as entirely rural. Homes include older houses, postwar homes and manufactured homes, often on lots with outbuildings.
What we find
Older homes in Redwater usually have crawl spaces with failing batts, thin attic insulation and ductwork with leaky joints. In humid summers, damp crawl space air rises into the house. Sealing and insulating the floor or the crawl space, then the attic, is the usual plan.
Outbuildings
Shops, barns and garages on rural lots get closed-cell foam on the steel to stop drip and cut heat.
Code
Bowie County is Climate Zone 3A. Texas uses the 2015 IRC energy chapter, with R-38 ceilings and R-19 floors.
Quadruplets and small-town pride
Redwater claims the first recorded set of quadruplets in the United States. Small towns like this have a lot of long-held family homes, and those homes often need the same work: a sealed attic, insulation brought to depth, and a dry crawl space.
Manufactured homes
If your home is a manufactured home, the work looks different: sealing duct connections, repairing belly insulation and sealing where sections join. We look before we price.
